GuitarFreaks & DrumMania Masterpiece Silver announced
|
Konami officially announced the "Best Hits" version of Guitar Freaks & DrumMania that was first hinted at back in March through a user poll. Titled GuitarFreaks & DrumMania Masterpiece Silver, this compilation game will feature over 70 songs, including classics like Timepiece Phase II, Model DD2, Shining Ray, Train-Train, Rocket Dive, and more. Additionally, the user interface will be customizable, likely through a selection of skins. The game is to be released on the PS2 on August 31, 2006 for 6980 yen.
As pure speculation, the title could also refer to the possibility of additional Masterpiece games, such as Masterpiece Gold. Konami has not announced anything of the sort, but Konami did produce 262 new songs for the unreleased GF/DM arcade versions (5th/4th through 11th/10th), leaving about 190 that have not yet been ported to a home version after Masterpiece Silver is released. |

Konami posts poll for new GuitarFreaks & DrumMania title
|
Konami recently posted a poll regarding a new GuitarFreaks & DrumMania project that they have started. Users are asked to choose one skin and three songs from the seven GuitarFreaks & DrumMania games that did not make it to home consoles (5th/4th through 11th/10th), as well as ee'Mall songs. Voting will be open until April 6th.
The text that Konami posted is vague, but this does confirm that there will be another GuitarFreaks & DrumMania home release, and it will likely be a compilation of user-chosen songs. It also appears that just one skin will be used, though it likely would not be difficult to add multiple skins. |

GuitarFreaks V & DrumMania V breaks top 10
|
For the first time in recent memory, a BEMANI title has appeared in the top 10 sales chart in Famitsu magazine, and it isn't the game that you'd expect: GuitarFreaks V & DrumMania V was number 9 this week with 17,520 units sold. The game performed well amidst the competition that included the release of SquareEnix's blockbuster Final Fantasy XII (which moved 1,764,266 copies) and the continued success of many of Nintendo's DS games such as Animal Crossing and Brain Training. In comparison, first week sales for Pop'n Music 12 were 13,153. Needless to say, this is very promising for the continued support of the GFDM series on consoles.
